Art that Tells Stories

Art Portfolio by D Schaub Crockett

When D Schaub Crockett paints, she steps into another world—a world shaped by galloping horses, majestic mountains, and the peaceful rhythm of a freshwater creek. Deeply inspired by nature and the spirit of the American West, her work reflects the beauty she’s surrounded by every day. As Picasso once said, “Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life,” and for Crockett, painting is both escape and expression.

MEET THE ARTIST

Working primarily in oil and acrylic, Crockett often begins with a fluid pour technique—letting colors move organically across the canvas—then brings them into sharp focus with realistic overlays in oil. Sometimes the joy is in discovering what lies beneath the swirl of color; other times, it's in letting the paint speak first, then answering it with form and detail.

Crockett lives with her husband, David Crockett, on a picturesque cattle ranch in Southern Idaho. Her studio, Cherry Springs Studio, sits among black and white aspen trees, red rock cliffs, and the rolling hills that surround natural springs. Her art is a reflection of this serene landscape, as well as her love of family, western heritage, and the timeless beauty of rivers and creeks.
